SPECIAL SESSION

Surface Chemistry/Coating on Nanomaterials

Kijung Yong
POSTECH, Korea

Abstract

1-D nanomaterials (nanowires) and 2-D nanostructures (nanofilms) are characterized by a high surface to volume (S/V) ratio. Due to this unique property, these nanomaterials have important applications in bio/gas sensors, energy devices, catalysis, and optoelectronic devices. For better understanding of the basic mechanism of nanodevices and also the growth mechanism of nanomaterials, surface chemistry study on nanomaterials is very important. This special session will focus on the surface chemistry study on nanomaterials and cover the following topics: Investigation of atomic surface structure of nanomaterials, Adsorption/desorption of gas/bio molecules on nanomaterials, Diffusion of molecules on nanomaterials, Modification of nanomaterial surface/Coating of nanomaterials and applications, Surface reaction study of nanomaterials growth.
