Graphics and Visualization
in Engineering 2007

Now more than 50 years old, the field of computer graphics and visualization can no longer be called new. However, the development of innovative applications in graphics, modelling, and imaging is still advancing. In addition, the demand for more powerful graphics engines, more intuitive content detectors, and more responsive renderers shows no sign of slowing down.

Graphics and Visualization in Engineering (GVE 2007) will be an international forum for researchers and practitioners interested in the advances in, and applications of, computer visualization, graphics, and imaging. It will be an opportunity to present and observe the latest research, results, and ideas in these areas.

GVE 2007 is sponsored by the International Association of Science and Technology for Development (IASTED) with the assistance of:
  • Technical Commmittee on Graphics
  • Technical Commmittee on Visualization
Conference Chair

Dr. Mohammad S. Alam is a Professor in and Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of South Alabama, USA. He is also a Fellow of the SPIE, OSA, and IEE (UK). Dr. Alam's research interests include digital/optical signal and image processing, pattern recognition, and infrared imaging systems.

Keynote Speaker

Dr. Timothy K. Shih is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering at Tamkang University, Taiwan. He is also an advisor at Tamkang University's Multimedia Information Networking Laboratory, and the founder and co-editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Distance Education Technologies.

Dr. Shih's presentation on "Digital Inpainting" will address current advances in digital image inpainting/image completion, video inpainting, and 3-D surface completion.
