Deadlines extended!

The deadline for submissions to CSS 2006 has been extended to Monday, August 7, 2006. Submit your papers, special sessions, and tutorial sessions before the deadline to ensure inclusion in the review process.

Keynote speaker and special session announced

Professor Behzad Razavi of the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, will be the keynote speaker at CSS 2006. He will speak on "60-GHz Transceivers in CMOS: Why and How?"

The CSS 2006 special session will address "Mulitmedia Processing for Intelligent Environments," and is organized by Dr. Girija Chetty of the University of Canberra, Australia.

Date

CSS 2006 will take place from November 20 - 22, 2006.

Location

The gold rush in 1848 forever transformed San Francisco, USA, from a quiet Spanish village to a booming metropolis. No postcard can do justice to the spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset, or the charm of riding the city’s famous cable cars. Take a ferry to Alcatraz, or enjoy walking tours of Union Square and Golden Gate Park. San Francisco is a city of endless possibility.

The Mark Hopkins Hotel is a historic San Francisco landmark situated at the crest of famed Nob Hill.

CSS 2006

With the development of analog and digital integrated circuits, designs and applications are now being approached at the system level, integrating the transmission and transformation of signals and signal processing circuits. Current issues relating to signals include processing, visualization, transmission, control and behaviour. Within the area of circuits, pertinent topics include analog and digital ICs, nanotechnology, MEMs, sensors, bioelectronics, molecular electronics, optoelectronics, sprintronics, communications and wireless networks. Relevant issues in control include optimization, computational aspects, artificial intelligence, robotics and micro-robotics, modelling and simulation.

Circuits, Signals, and Systems (CSS 2006) will be an international forum for researchers and specialists to exchange new ideas and practical experience in the above areas. It is an opportunity to present and observe the latest research, results, and ideas, and to collaborate on current issues identified by conference participants.

Conference Chair

Professor José Silva-Martinez is T1-I Professor at Texas A&M University, USA. Prof. Silva-Martinez's research interests lie mainly in the design of integrated circuits for biomedical applications, analog integrated circuits design for telecommunication applications, and high-speed mixed-mode integrated circuits design.

Keynote Speaker

Professor Behzad Razavi is Director of the Communications Circuits Laboratory at the University of California, Los Angeles, USA, and an IEEE Fellow and Distinguished Lecturer. His research interests include phase-locking and clock recovery for high-speed data communications, frequency synthesizers, and wireless transceivers.

Special Session

"Mulitmedia Processing for Intelligent Environments"

The following is excerpted from the CSS 2006 Special Session abstract by Dr. Girija Chetty:

There is an increasing expectation of services to be made available at any time, in any place, and to any one. These services and applications can only become a reality when multimodal data of the inhabitants can be properly acquired and analyzed with circuits, systems and intelligent processing techniques. Environments can actually react and provide 'intelligent' or 'smart' services by the processing of such data and the extraction of features and knowledge.

  • VLSI, Analog, and Digital Circuits and Systems
  • Mixed-Mode Circuits and Data Converters
  • Groupware Interfaces
  • MEMS, Sensors, and Sensor Systems
  • RF and High-Frequency Circuits
  • Wireless Communication Circuits and Systems
