With the unprecedented high penetration of mobile devices in developing countries, there is potential in improving health service delivery using mobile technology to deliver interventions to patients, improve health education and awareness, diagnostic treatment and support, improve communication and training for healthcare workers, improve public health through disease and outbreak monitoring among others. This talk presents a private sector view of these opportunities in Botswana to stimulate their adoption and assess the innovation landscape that drives development of these technology solutions.

Dr. Saleshando is a nephrologist at Bokamoso Private Hospital. He also runs a Dialysis Clinic at Princess Marina Hospital. Dr Saleshando is also an entrepreneur and pioneered the first ever privately-owned training institute in the health sector in Botswana that aims to address a need in the industry, coupled with the ever-growing demand for well-qualified and dedicated health care personnel. Dr Saleshando did his basic medical training at the University College of Dublin in Ireland, is a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He did his nephrology training with the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa.
