Dr. Christophe Claramunt is a Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Naval Academy Research Institute (France). He earned a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Burgundy (France) in 1998. His research interests are oriented towards the development of spatio-temporal models for GIS, semantic and cognitive-based GIS, integration of GIS and simulation systems, development of environmental and urban GISs, and the integration of WEB, wireless, and GIS systems. He is the co-founder of the series of annual Springer symposium on Web and Wireless Geographical Information Systems (W2GIS) whose 7th event takes place in Hong Kong in December 2006. In 2006, he co-chairs of the 3rd International Workshop on Conceptual Modeling for Geographic Information Systems (COMOGIS'2006), the 3rd International Workshop on Spatio-Temporal Database Management (STDBM'2006) and the ACM track on Advances in Spatial and Image-based Information Systems (ASIIS'06).
