Franc Solina is a Professor in the Faculty of Computer and Information Science at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. He received the Dipl. Ing. (1979) and M.S. (1982) degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. Prof. Solina founded the Computer Vision Laboratory at University of Ljubljana in 1991. His research is devoted to several aspects of computer vision, in particular, using 3D superquadric models for segmentation and object recognition. Other areas that interest Dr. Solina include the use of computer vision methods in relation to multimedia and in the context of new media art.
