Biography of the Keynote Speaker
Albert Niel is founding member of NextSense GmbH and head of R&D since March 2007. He can look back on over 25 years of experience in R&D management, starting as an assistant at the Technical University of Graz and the Montanuniversität Leoben, and then becoming head of the Institute of Digital Image Processing at Joanneum Research (Center for applied research and development). Dr. Niel has managed numerous industrial projects with image processing applications all over the world. He is a specialist in optical metrology especially with structured light techniques, and has developed the algorithms for the patented measuring system Calipri. He has participated in various scientific committees and is the author of many publications. He graduated as a Diplomingenieur in Electrical Engineering from the Technical University of Graz and as Dr. Mont. from Montanuniversität Leoben.
