Giovanni Jacazio is a professor of applied mechanics at the Politecnico of Torino, Italy, where he is also a lecturer in mechanical control systems. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the Politecnico of Torino, Italy (1969), and a M.S. degree in mechanical engineering (1971) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was appointed professor of applied mechanics at the university of Trieste, Italy, in 1975, and then attained the same position at the Politecnico of Torino in 1977. Prof. Jacazio’s main research activity is in the area of control and actuation systems for aerospace applications. Along with his academic activities, he has been working as a consultant for several high tech companies, both in the aerospace and transport industries. He is on the SAE A-6 Committee on Aerospace Actuation Control and Fluid Power Systems, and is a member of the United Technologies Working Group on prognostics and health management.
