Biography of the Keynote Speaker

Prof. Pietro Pala graduated in Electronics Engineering at the University of Firenze, Italy in 1994. From the same university, he received the Ph.D. in Information and Telecommunications Engineering in 1997. Presently, he is Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the University of Firenze where he teaches "Database Management Systems" and "Image and Video Processing and Analysis". He also teaches "Multimedia Systems" at the Masters level in "Multimedia Content Deisgn" of the University of Firenze. Pietro Pala has served as vice-chair of the IAPR Technical Committee 12 on Multimedia and Visual Information Systems. His main scientific and research interests address the use of pattern recognition models to support Multimedia Information Retrieval and 3D Face Recognition.
