Prof. Carlo Noè was born in 1949 and received his degree in mechanical engineering at the Politecnico of Milan in 1975. He has been full professor in industrial plants since 1998 at Carlo Cattaneo University - LIUC of Castellanza, Lombardy, where in recent years he has taught Quality Management and Logistics. Before joining LIUC he was at the Politecnico of Milan from 1984, first as assistant and then as associate professor in Design and Management of Production Systems.
At LIUC, he was coordinator of degree programmes in industrial engineering from 1994 until 2002, and director of the Institute of Technologies from 2005 until 2007. From 1987 until 1999 he was director of evening classes at MIP, the school of management at the Politecnico of Milan.
In the past few years, Prof. Noè has been a work package leader in an Italian University Ministry research project in Facility Management and Outsourcing (2003–05), and in an EU research project in Diagnosing Vulnerability, Emergent Phenomena and Volatility in Manmade Networks (2007–present). From 1977 until 1995 he also worked as a general manager of small enterprises and as a consultant in production management. Prof. Noè has, since 1991, been a member of the conciliation board of UCIMU - sistemi per produrre, the Italian association of machine-tools builders. He is the author of about sixty scientific papers.
