Dr. Susan Ko is a well known expert on the subject of online teaching and training. She is the Executive Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Maryland University College, and co-author of a leading book in the field of online teaching, Teaching Online: A Practical Guide (Houghton Mifflin, 2004).
Under Dr. Ko's direction, the faculty development training course for online teaching at University of Maryland University College was
completely revised and was recognized in 2006 by the Sloan-C "Excellence in Faculty Development for Online Teaching" award.
Her book, Teaching Online: A Practical Guide, now in its 2nd edition, has been widely adopted by diverse institutions worldwide as a key text for training faculty to teach online. Dr. Ko has assisted entities in the for-profit and non-profit sectors of business, academic institutions, and government in serving their professional development and training needs. Holding a doctorate from Yale University, Dr. Ko is an experienced instructor in the humanities and Asian Studies, teaching in both the face-to-face and online modes. She has been responsible for creating and administering faculty training programs for a number of institutions over the past 10 years. Dr. Ko has also conducted numerous workshops and delivered papers on the subject of online teaching and training.
