Biography of the Organizer
Václav Snášel graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the Palacky University, Olomouc Czech Republic in 1981. He received his Ph.D. in Algebra from the Masaryk University Brno in 1991 and became Associate Professor in 2001. Since 2001 he has been a visiting scientist in the Institute of Computer Science, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. Since 2003 he has been Vice-Dean for Research and Science in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Snasel has published more than 240 papers on Otology, Knowledge Management, Databases, Multimedia, Information Retrieval, Neural Networks, Data Compression, and File Organization. He has recently served as a member of program committees of a number of conferences, e.g. DATAKON, Znalosti, Objekty, DATESO, CLA, Sofsem (Springer Verlag), PSMP (Las Vegas), ClustWeb (Heracleiton Greece), ITAT (Košice, Slovakia), ADBIS, (Springer Verlag), ECEC, CSIT 2006 Jordan, and SYRCoDIS 2006, Moscow.
He participated in the project designing the MS-2000 Mossbauer Spectrometer for the Russian space mission MARS-96
