Dr. Aed El-Saba is an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of South Alabama, USA. He received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University, USA in 1984. He obtained his MS degree in Applied Physics and an MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Orleans in 1986 and 1987, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1997. Dr. El-Saba served as a visiting Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1998 and 1999. Dr. El-Saba joined the University of South Alabama in 1999 as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering.
His research interests include digital signal processing, digital image processing, optical fiber communication system design, optical fiber sensors, polarization analysis, imaging polarimetry, infrared imaging, hyperspectral imaging, optical pattern recognition, thin-film coating design and analysis, and biometrics for high security applications. He is an author and co-author of more than 25 articles in refereed journals, 35 conference proceedings, 2 book chapters, 2 patents (1 pending), 4 invited presentations, and 16 research reports. He has co-organized and co-chaired several sessions in international conferences. He supervised 7 Master’s theses and has been committee member of 13 Master’s thesis and 1 Ph.D.
Dr. El-Saba is a member of International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), a member of Optical Society of America, and a member and president of the of the Institute of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mobile branch.
