Scope
Interconnection networks are currently being used in many areas ranging from internal buses in VLSI circuits to wide area computer networks, and from large supercomputers to small embedded systems-on-a-chip (SoC). Developing the high performance architectures and algorithms is essential to the next generation of interconnect applications: parallel processing and computing, communication system, electronic/optical switches and routers, high-performance I/O systems, and on-chip networks. Both academy and industry communities have being actively working on interconnect networks for many years.

A special session on High Performance Interconnect Networks will be organized at the PDCS2006 conference. This session constitutes a unique forum to present the latest research results by international researchers and developers. Original contributions are solicited, related to all aspects of high performance interconnection networks including their theory, analysis, design, implementation and application, and corresponding issues of communication, computing and function arising from (or applied to) a variety of multifaceted networks. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Topology and architecture
  • Routing algorithm
  • Switching strategy
  • Scalability issue
  • Blocking character
  • Load balancing
  • Flow control
  • Cost and resource management
  • Simulation and verification
  • Performance analysis and evaluation
  • Mathematical representation and modeling
  • Optical interconnect
  • On-chip interconnect
  • Fault tolerance routing
  • Wavelength routing in optical multistage interconnection network

Submission guidelines and publications
Each submission should include authors names, affiliations, addresses, email addresses of all authors, and corresponding author and contact on the cover page. Each paper should include up to 5 keywords and an abstract of no more than 250 words. Please submit full paper, not exceeding 6 pages in length (single-space) in PS or PDF format for consideration, to the special session organizer by June 15, 2006 via email at ealu@salisbury.edu. Submission implies the willingness of at least one author to register and present the paper.

All papers selected for this session by peer-review process will be published in the PDCS2006 conference proceedings through ACTA Press, USA. All final papers should be received by Sept. 1, 2006 and should adhere to the IASTED final paper formatting requirements outlined at http://www.iasted.org/formatting-final.htm.
